Her childhood was cradled in the warm embrace of the Missionary Baptist church, where Sundays were not just days of the week but experiences of spiritual awakening and musical discovery.
Loretta's father, Deacon Hosea Edward Little, Sr., was the beacon that guided her initial steps in music. Their living room transformed into a sacred space where father and daughter would blend their voices in harmony, the organ's keys dancing under her father's skilled hands. These moments were not just familial bonding but the forging of a musician's soul, as Loretta learned to weave stories and emotions into melodies.
STEPS FORWARD
As she grew, Loretta's musical landscape expanded. She became a familiar face in her school's chorus and a vibrant voice in a local community choir. Her involvement in these musical groups was not merely an extracurricular activity; it was a continuation of her journey, a way to explore and express her burgeoning talent. High school became a turning point, where choir performances and local concerts further solidified her commitment to her art.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES
The transition from choir member to solo artist was a natural progression for Loretta. Her musical influences evolved, drawing inspiration from Contemporary Christian music icon Cece Winans. This artist, with her unique blend of gospel and contemporary sound, resonated with Loretta, shaping her musical identity. Her own music started to take form, characterized by a blend of joyous rhythms and uplifting lyrics, a reflection of her deep faith and her desire to share it through song.
MUSIC PROJECTS
"He Is God," Loretta's debut single, emerged as a crystallization of her spiritual and musical journey. The song, lively and soul-stirring is a celebration of faith, a testament of God's eternal presence and power.
The Lord gave Loretta this song well over ten years ago while facing a very difficult season in her life. After lying face down on the floor in her living room, praying, and crying out to God wholeheartedly, Loretta lingered there on the floor in an attempt to quiet her spirit and mind.
Moments later, the lyrics started to flow accompanied by music! Loretta rushed to grab a notebook and pen to write what she was hearing. In other words, the song's lyrics, "...be still and know that I am God...," were the Lord's response to her prayer!
Drawing from Psalm 46:10, Loretta crafted a melody that is both a proclamation and a reassurance of faith. The song's creation was not just an artistic endeavor but a spiritual revelation, embodying Loretta's belief in the healing and transformative power of music.
To date, Loretta has revisited and refined "He Is God" in collaboration with Kimokat Records. This process was more than just recording; it was a rebirth of the song, ensuring it truly captures the essence of her message.
